Scarlett Johansson at the Olympus Fashion Week Spring

Scarlett Johansson knew she wanted to be an actress at age 3, and she fulfilled this dream only five years later. After an off-Broadway debut and several film roles, Scarlett won a Hollywood Reporter "YoungStar Award" for The Horse Whisperer. Sarlett has been named Breakthrough Actress at the 2003 Hollywood Film Festival's Hollywood Awards and Best Actress in a Leading Role (Lost in Translation) at the 2004 BAFTA Awards. She was also nominated for two Best Actress Golden Globes for Lost in Translation and Girl with a Pearl Earring.

Scarlett's main ambition is always to be the best actress she can be - Scarlett doesn't really care about her celebrity status.

Scarlett received an "introducing" credit for The Horse Whisperer (1998) although it was already her seventh film role.

Her father Karsten Johansson, a NY architect, was born in Denmark, and her mother Melanie (of Polish descent), her manager, now divorced, separated when she was 13.

Scarlet has an older half-brother (Christian), an older sister (Vannessa, who is also an actress), and older brother (Adrian) and a twin brother (Hunter) - she is three minutes older than twin brother Hunter, and regards these three minutes as "the most important 3 minutes" in her life.

She attended and graduated in 2002 from Professional Children's School in Manhattan, New York City and was invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) in June 2004.
