Freida Kaur Pinto was born in Mumbai on October 18, 1984. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and a trained dancer in Indian classical dances and Salsa.Her role as Latika in Slumdog Millionaire is her big screen debut. Before her movie breakthrough, she has modeled for magazines and runway shows and appeared in TV and print advertisements. Freida has learned the craft at The Barry John's Acting Studio in Andheri.
For her role in Slumdog Millionaire Freida has been nominated as "Best Actress in a Supporting Role" at the 2009 BAFTA-Awards and has won the Screen Actors guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture together with then other actors from Slumdog Millionaire.
