Zoe Saldana was born as Zoe Yadira Zaldana Nazario on June 19, 1978, in the USA and raised there, but she lived in the Dominican Republic from age 10 to 17, where she trained dancing at the ECOS Espacio de Danza Academy.
Back in the US, Zoe began performing with the Faces theatre troupe with plays directed at teens dealing with drug or sexual problems.
Her first role for the big screen was as a ballet dancer in Center Stage in 2000.
